Guess the 1960s song lyrics #251

*First line is the duo name. 1969. The original single took over 100 hours to record. It was recorded at multiple locations including St. Paul's Chapel in New York and Nashville. Famed Wrecking Crew drummer Hal Blaine created the reverberating snare drum sound. Some have interpreted the chorus as an attack on Bob Dylan, but most agree this is not true. The song was a huge international success cracking the Top 10 in 15 countries.

Answer
Simon and Garfunkel
I
am
just
a
poor
boy
though
my
story's
seldom
told
I
have
squandered
my
resistance
for
a
pocket
full
of
mumbles
Such
are
promises
All
lies
and
jest
Still
a
man
hears
what
he
wants
Answer
to
hear
and
disregards
the
rest
When
I
left
my
home
and
my
family
I
was
no
more
than
a
boy
In
the
company
of
strangers
In
the
quiet
of
the
railway
station
Runnin
scared
laying
low
Answer
Seeking
out
the
poorer
quarters
where
the
ragged
people
go
Looking
for
the
places
only
they
would
know
Lie
la

Answer

Asking
only
workman's
wages
I
come
lookin
for
a
job

I
get
no
offers
Just
a
come
on
from
the
whores
on
7th
aveneue
I
do
declare
there
Answer
were
times
when
I
was
so
lonesome
I
took
some
comfort
there

Now
the
years
are
rolling
by
me
They
are
rockin
evenly
I
am
older
than
I
once
Answer
was
And
younger
than
I'll
be
that's
not
unusual
Nor
is
it
strange
After
changes
upon
changes
We
are
more
or
less
the
same
After
changes
we
are
more
or
less
the
same
And
I'm
laying
Answer
out
my
winter
clothes
and
wishing
I
was
gone
Goin
home
Where
the
New
York
City
winters
aren't
bleeding
me
Leading
me
Going
home
In
the
clearing
stands
a
boxer
And
a
fighter
by
his
trade
Answer
And
he
carries
the
reminders
Of
every
glove
that
laid
him
down
Or
cut
him
till
he
cried
out
in
his
anger
and
his
shame
I
am
leaving
I
am
leaving
but
the
fighter
still
remains
