Guess the 1960s song lyrics #308

*First line is the artist name. 1968. He started out as a session musician often performing with the Wrecking Crew. He was an excellent guitar player. He had his own tv show for a time. It's been called "the first existential country song." Jimmy Webb wrote this song while driving through the Oklahoma panhandle. He changed the location in the song and title. Webb wrote the song after the artist called him begging for a "place name" song because his previous hit was a place name song.
