The performer was also an actor. One night, while performing with his band, this artist did an imitation of horror actor Boris Karloff. The crowd loved it. It inspired the idea for the song. Sound effects were used extensively in this song. The song has entered the Top 100 in 1962, 1970, 1973, and 2021.
