I was surprised by the lack of Florida or Pennsylvania/New York, and they're not even close. I guess the western states really are that much bigger, but Oregon so doesn't look twice the size of Pennsylvania

It's like the Sahara Desert- the less land to be thoroughly settled, the larger the borders.
