Maryland is an obvious example of this: The Susquehanna River is listed as the longest river in the state at 444 miles. However, only about 50 miles of that length is in Maryland. The Potomac River would be the river with the longest length in Maryland at approximately 383 miles. I think the error applies to other states as well, but I didn't look into those.
