How do you active a request stop?

If you're boarding the train at the station, you have to stick your hand out so that the driver sees you and stops. If you're alighting at the station, you have to inform the guard/conductor that you're getting off there. In some stations in the Scottish Highlands, there is a button at the station to request to stop the next train.

Thanks! Llanfair PG does indeed have its own station, which is small enough to justify being a request stop only.
