Is there a way for this quiz to accept country names as JetPunk usually does, e.g. UK for United Kingdom and Bosnia for Bosnia & Herzegovina?

Serbia is not the only acceptable answer for "borders Romania and North Macedonia;" Bulgaria does as well.
