For the cities in Europe one, I did not select "Odessa" because of Odessa, Texas... perhaps select a different city?

There is still an Odessa in europe, though, even if there’s one in Texas. There’s probably a namesake city for every city large enough or known enough to make that question.

Generally if there is a name in the us that also exist in Europe, the Europe one was first. (and usualy more known, but not alsways, like in case of smaller cities)

Out of the six correct answers only two don't have cities in the USA. Those being Gdansk and Bari. For the other four there is Odessa and Paris, Texas. There is a Riga in New York, and An Abderdeen in South Dakota.
