15 March T.A. 3019; The largest battle of the Third Age was a victory for Gondor and Rohan against the attacking forces of Mordor, led by the Witch-King. Though victory came at great cost. Many defenders lost their lives during the battle, including the steward Denethor and the king of Rohan, Théoden.

T.A. 2941; A Battle fought between the Goblins and the Wargs against Men, Elves and Dwarves on and near Erebor. The orc chieftain Bolg was slain by Beorn resulting in victory for the forces of Good. Dain Ironfoot became King under the Mountain after Thorin Oakenshield and his nephews Fili and Kili were also killed in the battle.

3 and 4 March T.A. 3019 in the valley of Helm's Deep; The attacking Isengard-host of Saruman were defeated by the Rohirrim led by Théoden, Aragorn and Erkenbrand.

F.A. 455; The fourth battle in the Wars of Beleriand. Morgoth broke the siege of Angband and scattered the sons of Fëanor.

F.A. 503; Victory for the Elves of Ossiriand under Beren against a host of Dwarves which sacked Menegroth. Beren recovered the Nauglamír and presented it to Lúthien.

T.A. 2510; In the conflict between Gondor and the Wainriders/Balchoth, the Éothéod under their leader Eorl the Young unexpectedly came to the aid of Gondor and defeated the Balchoth. They were rewarded the land of Calenardhon by the steward Cirion and established the kingdom of Rohan there.

23. Siege of Barad-dûr
S.A. 3434 - S.A. 3441; The final conflict in the War of the Last Alliance. The seven year siege ended when Sauron finally emerged himself. He killed Gil-Galad and Elendil, but was ultimately defeated when Isildur cut the One Ring from his hand.
