This is ridiculous... a "run" is absolutely a way to describe a length of pipe or conduit. Whether as a noun (eg, "there's a 100-yard pipe run connecting the pump to the drain") or as a verb (eg, "I need to run this conduit along the length of the basement ceiling.")
