Bougainville, Northern Cyprus, French Polynesia, Cook Islands, Niue? It would be helpful to specify the precise criteria used to include or exclude countries in/from this list. What metric was used to determine which countries are “known around the world”?

I was basing it off known “countries” that are trying to break off from other countries, like for how all the answers are just “countries” that want to break off from other countries. Mainly from YouTube, most of the answers are just ones that almost every JetPunker knows actually wants to become independent, unlike Rodrigues or Canary Islands, if i could add more widely known breakaway states, maybe i could

At the Very least add Northern Cyprus. Looking at the Wikipedia Page on unrecognized states, you will find it there. You will also find Niue, Cook Islands, and the Order of Malta, though those may have nuances that may not make them qualify for you.

Also, Artsakh does not exist anymore. It was recently dissolved.
