Would protons, neutrons and electons be smaller than an atom - yet still be matter?

So an atom isn’t the absolute smallest unit of matter, but it is the smallest unit of matter that’s still matter as we tend to know it (actual elements). Once you go smaller you’re playing by some different rules.
