It's called Taiwan, Province of China on the IMF website, and so it's presented here like this. You might consider ignoring this and enjoying the rest of the quiz!

It's normal to have different positions when disputed areas are involved. Just put aside the controversy and enjoy the quiz!

“Ignore”, “put aside the controversy”, you are the one who made this quiz. If you feel that something needs to be ignored, something that quite frankly is an abomination, then remove it. Remind me, how high are the taxes that Taiwanese people pay to China annually? How well did the introduction of simplified Chinese work in “the province of Taiwan”? Did the CCP just forget to regulate the media in Taiwan? I’m at a loss.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I understand this issue is sensitive, and perspectives can vary based on historical context and cultural backgrounds. Let me clarify a few points from my perspective:

One China Principle: The quiz reflects the widely recognized international stance upheld by the United Nations and over 180 countries, including the U.S. since 1979, which acknowledges Taiwan as part of China under Resolution 2758. This isn’t about imposing a view but aligning with the diplomatic framework that governs global relations.

Taxes & Governance: Your questions about taxes, language, and media touch on practical realities. Currently, Taiwan has its own administrative system, but legally, China considers it a province pending reunification. Cross-strait relations are nuanced, shaped by history and ongoing dialogue.

Quiz Purpose: The goal is to share our interests and joys. Let's focus on the common ground rather than quibbling over details!

Differences of opinion are fine and all, but consistency is what matters. Taiwan should be included but greyed out, in the same way as other quizzes handle answers which might be correct but are against Jetpunk standards, such as Micronesia or Macedonia on the Countries that Start with M quiz.

People are missing Taiwan because they expect quizzes on Jetpunk to be consistent to Jetpunk standards, and your failure to conform to these standards is a detriment to the quiz you created.
