Ummm...Eddie Van Halen was the lead guitarist. Not one of the three singers they had.

When I did this, I remembered that Bon Jovi did a similar thing to Van Halen that the band was named after a member, and Bon Jovi was the singer, so with association with Eddie Van Halen for me. I feel like I recognize more of singers than anybody else. I've seen he was a backup vocalist which I feel is close enough as it's not titled LEAD singers, just singers. Wikipedia says something he was lead from 1972 to 1974 but I've also seen the band was actually formed in 74. I wasn't even born until 3 decades after that, so I guess I can't say anything about when the band was starting

I get where you're coming from but by that rationale you'd also have to include Brian May, John Deacon and Roger Taylor as singers for Queen, since they all harmonized and sung backup at times. Same for BeeGees, Bon Jovi,etc...

Probably easiest just to stick with the person who is actually considered the singer of the band. Unless there are clearly multiple singers, such as with The Beatles.
