I’m not sure how you arrive at the figure of 452 weeks for Rod Laver. They didn’t have computerised rankings back then, and that figure would make him number 1 for more than 8.5 years. He was certainly number one for 5 years from 1965-99. Some argue that he was during 1964 and 1970, but that’s only 7 years even if you allow that. The record for weeks at number 1 is held by Djokovic at 428 weeks, your figure has Laver ahead of Djokovic by 24 weeks.
You're right, I think the more generally accepted answer is 374 weeks. I think I found 452 weeks because that included his time when he was the number 1 amateur (1961-62).
