"First baseball game under modern rules" is a little vague. I never would have guessed 1845 because that version of baseball would be unrecognizable to most people today.

I agree with aertzc. Many changes happened since then. Pitcher's mound was closer, you had to pitch underhand, and you could "peg" runners--that is hit them with the ball to get them out. And there are many others.
