There are 3637 inhabited subdivisions in the world. Can you name at least one for every country?
In this version, subdivisions that are named after the country itself, its capital or cardinal directions do not work.

A first-level subdivision is a portion of a country delineated for the purpose of administration, which is included within no other subdivision of the said country.

Many people requested this version. The following type-ins have been removed :

- North, South, East, West, Central, Mid, Inner, Outer, Upper, Lower, Lesser, Greater and derived type-ins

- Capital, Federal District, ... and capital names

- Anything that contains the country's name itself.

Have fun!

I'm wondering what divisions you have in your list that should have triggered Ivory Coast. I tried the ones below all of which work in IAB's World and Africa first level subdivision quizzes but none of them turned it green. Sud Comoe, N'Zi, Folon, Grans Ponts, Poro, Bere, Nawa, Goh, Loh Djiboua, and maybe a few others.

Great job, I managed a 65 to my surprise by guessing regions (mostly islands but some deserts) and cities! Can you accept HCMC for Ho Chi Minh City as it usually is? Also, it would be neat if you could list some answers but delete it from the grid to allow people to see it in stats, but I suppose it wouldn't be that hard to look it up.

Exactly what I looked and waited for. Just a question:

How to solve Netherlands and Bosnia? In the official quiz Netherlands has no provinces and typing Netherlands obviously doesn’t work, but the provinces that are really there don’t work neither like Gelderland, Limburg, both Hollands, Groningen, Frisia. And Bosnia should have no answers I think, both Herzegovina and Bosnia aren’t allowed, Sarajevo neither, so there’s nothing left right?

Grand Est contains a cardinal direction (east) and for the UK, you need to type England or Scotland for instance

England isn't a first-level subdivision of the UK - it's Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland and then the counties of England, as England has no legal existence of its own (no government, no legal system etc). England is no more a subdivision of the UK than New England is a subdivision of the USA.

I found the system with the Netherlands and NZ absolutely baffling and very counter-intuitive - it would be nice to be able to write Drenthe (or whatever) and it would still be right. I suppose it is strictly speaking correct, in some arcane legal way, but it seems a bit harsh.
