Thank you for your question. Guernsey is a crown dependency known as the Bailiwick of Guernsey, along with other islands like Alderney and Sark. It is politically separate from the UK having its own government and legal system. The UK does however handle its defence and certain international affairs. Other crown dependencies include Jersey and the Isle of Man. I hope this helps...
