The leap from 120-ish degrees to 180-ish degrees, a third of the Western Hemisphere, really makes you realise how far out Hawaii and Alaska are.

What's your data source for these numbers? Cape Blanco in the 5th-most western state actually extends to 124.57 °W and is about 0.15° further west than the westernmost point of what you have listed as the 4th-most western state.
