You might not want to include Territories and Protectorates as their own answers, as there are sure to be a lot of angry people in the comments asking why X territory wasn't included.

Things can also get political very quickly if you include some territories (like Western Sahara) that are contended, but not others, like Gaza or Abkhazia. JetPunk has made a few official political stances, and while some may not agree with them, they are generally accepted as the status quo for the site (like Taiwan or Israel.)
