Basilisks are hatched from a snake or toad's egg and fertilized by a rooster while cockatrices are hatched from a hen's egg and fertilized by a snake or toad. Both can kill something from afar by looking or breathing on it. Also, cockatrices' have legs and their bodies are more similar to dragons' while basilisks' bodies are more similar to snakes. I only researched the differences while making this quiz. Thank you for taking it!
You're right about hippogriffs. They were invented at the end of the sixteenth century by Ariosto. The first mention of a basilisk was by Colophon in the second century while the first mention of a harpy was by Hesiod in the seventh century, so you're correct about that as well. However, in Greek art, sirens are portrayed as half woman and half bird. The reason I did not use the snake emoji was because there is not one of only its head, and the head is what is infinite. Do you have other suggestions for the hydra? What is a creature I could substitute for the hippogriff?
1. Hippogriffs aren't from Greek Mythology
2. Harpies and sirens should have their own sections, here's the difference.
Harpies are part bird
Sirens just sit on rocks lol (I can tell you more differences if you want I'm just lazy)
3. Basilisks do originate in the Greek area but they come much more later than the stories of most of these creatures
4. I recommend using snakes for the hydra and the infinity symbol
