I think it's different for girls. I'm a 5'8" guy and I would consider myself short.

Physical differences between genders. 5'7 is relatively short for a man, though tall for a girl (especially if you're not finished growing).

5 7' wasn't sure for the time. It was average height for men. Napoleon was taller than Wellington for instance.

It really depends where in the world you are from. What is short in the Netherlands is tall in for instance Guatemala. The average height for males there is about 20- 25 cm less than in the Netherlands.

Edit, for comparison I believe the US average for males is almost right in the middle of those two.

Edit2 to speak in feet, here it is 5ft7 for girls and 6ft1/2 for guys

Most of these people aren't "short" in my eyes. I usually wouldn't consider someone "short" unless they were under 5 feet. These people are all below average height, but so is 50% of the worlds population.
