Caspian Sea - The worlds largest inland body of water

Lake Balkhash - The biggest lake completely in Kazakhstan and is one of the largest lakes in Asia and the 15th largest in the world.

Aral Sea - Once the world's fourth largest lake but has shrunk due to diversion.

Lake Alakol - Its waters are thought to have medicinal properties since the time of the Silk Road

Lake Zaysan - Famous for being one of the oldest lakes in the world possibly dating back to the Cretaceous period but is endangered.

Bukhtarma reservoir - The largest man-made lake in Kazakhstan that is formed on the Irtysh River by the Bukhtarma Dam and provides hyroelectric power.
