There are 154 National Forests in the United States encompassing over 188 million acres. These lands are under the jurisdiction of the US Forest Service, Department of Agriculture. This number also includes National Grasslands, Research Natural Areas, and other designations. Below are the 133 designated National Forests. How many can you name?
Thanks, I like to come back to this quiz every so often to see how many I remember (average score is around 40, only because I've been to 25-30 so I remember those better).
Just wondering if you'd consider taking "Chattahoochee" as an acceptable answer for "Chattahoochee-Oconee" and "Winema" for "Fremont-Winema"
Great Job - Nice work! I combined forests like 'Humboldt-Toiyabe' or 'Fremont-Winema since they are officially connected. I like how you kept them separate.
Thanks for your observations! I've corrected Virginia but don't see any issues with Quachita - I've rechecked the spelling which appears to be correct.
The two least guessed national forests say Kistchie and Quachita - these are both misspelled. Kisatchie should have an A in it, and Ouachita doesn't have a Q it has an O, like the Ouachita Mountains.
Can't forget about our homie Tom, the Big Bee! Tombigbee is a 6th one in Mississippi.
Your total number of national forests can stay unchanged though, as Land Between The Lakes is a National Recreation Area and while it's accidentally on a wikipedia list it isn't at all a national forest. Beautiful I'm sure but it deserves its own list with the other recreation areas like Flaming Gorge, Lake Meade, Golden Gate, etc.
TBH I raced up to level 15 to comment on here because I like the quiz so much and just wanna see my favorite named one in it. Thanks for having this quiz, it goes well with the NF map one!

Virginia is VA, not VI (George Washington and Jefferson).
Quachita should be Ouachita.
