I don't know how to break this to you gently but the common English name for what you call soccer is football. It does not mean American Football in common English. Strictly, the word means a whole spectrum of variations on the game including Association Football (soccer), American Football, Rugby Union Football etc but in England, if you say football you are generally referring to soccer.
