Well, there was this great game called Star Control II, honestly one of the best games ever made. In that game there were several alien races. Name them.

Ah well, kalbahamut''s comment on that quiz was a reference to this game. The relevant quote was from an alien of the VUX species:

"Oh no! It's one of those ultra-gross humans again!

Quick, hide your eye!

AGGH! Look at the pulpy red thing in its mouth

how it wriggles and writhes like a wet blood worm

and plays over the hard white nubs that protrude from its headbone!

It was actually a more direct quote from Star Control 3, which, though buggy as hell and flawed in many ways, was also a great game. Good script, for one thing.

I knew I should have looked a bit harder for the quote when it didn't quite match. I need to play 3 again, it's apparently been too long.

So was I!

And when I saw the quiz name embedded in the URL in the comment, I clicked on it so damn fast...

...only to start the quiz, and suddenly realize that it's been over 25 years since I last played the game. Apparently my StarCon II knowledge has totally -- *ahem* -- ossified in that time. Could only remember about 10 races. LE SIGH.

(Like seriously: how could I possibly forget the Slylandro after the years of my life I spent swearing at those damn probes?!)

But those probes were a great way to jumpstart the game. If you got Fwiffo off Pluto then headed back out of the system without talking to earth, the probes would attack you constantly, and you could rack up early money by farming them with the Spathi BUTT missiles. Looking forward to the sequel release that should be some time this year!
