Small piece of Trivia: Colombia was originally selected to host the 1986 World Cup at the FIFA Congress of 1974. However, as the country faced harsh economic conditions in the subsequent years, they were forced to withdraw as hosts in 1982. FIFA quickly sent out a call for last minute bids, where the three CONCACAF nations of Canada, USA & Mexico placed bids to be hosts in return. After a vote, Mexico won hosting duties unanimously. This is why Colombia is marked as both Bold (Original Winning Bid) & in Italics (Forced to Withdraw)
