242/268 - this is not easy at all. Especially as you don't allow the regular type-ins, which makes it quite a challenge. Neverheless it's fun to have them all together
Got 194, just had, I think 178 on the empty world map. This one is harder (not only because of the obvious reason of the territories) because, obviously there is no map. But for me having it split up by continent made it a lot harder instead of easier. Then I see a gap and think of a country but i allready would have it, but on a different continent..
Definetly a challenge! Great job! As a suggestion: You should allow some wrong spelling and abbreviations such as st for saint. Overall is an amazing quiz!
It is annoying you don't allow 'st' and 'drc' as every other quiz on this site does. Or Eswatini and Nagorno-Karabakh and SADR. But why does Palmyra figure and none of the other unpopulated US minor outlying islands? Either all or none! Why San Andres but not Jan Meyen? Why South Georgia and the South Sandwich islands but not Bouvet Island, Heard and Macdonald and French Southern and Antarctic lands? Why split up the territory of St Helena/Ascension/Tristan da Cunha and Akrotiri and Dekhelia yet not San Andres and Providencia? Puntland is no more a separate territory than Kurdistan. Why the unpopulated Coral Sea Islands and not Ashmore and Cartier? Republic of Congo simply doesn't have that name anywhere else - it is either Congo or Congolese Republic or Republic of the Congo. These contradictions and inconsistencies make this quiz both irritating and impossible to do first time. You need to iron these out and be consistent - personally I would stick to whole territory names only.
This quiz could be fun if it were remotely standardized. As is, there's no real consistency to whether type-ins are allowed (and no note as to why they wouldn't be), territories are arbitrarily broken up or excluded, and the quiz is now significantly out of date as it hasn't been updated for five years.
I'd suggest giving this one a pass, at least for now.
Palmyra, Wake, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands and the British Indian Ocean Territory should all be excluded/deleted as they have no permanent civilian population. Puntland should be excluded as it does not claim independence from Somalia. Eswatini, North Macedonia and Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic or SADR should replace Swaziland, Macedonia and Western Sahara respectively.
Why won't you include the rest of US Minor Outlying Islands such as Baker Island, Howland Island, Jarvis Island, Kingman Reef, and Midway Atoll in the Pacific and also Navassa Island in the Caribbean? And what about Serranilla Bank and Bajo Nuevo Bank?
And what about French Southern and Antarctic Lands which consists of several major islands in the Indian ocean near Antarctica and five uninhabited scattered islands around Madagascar?
If you include Puntland (Somalia) here, why not Galmudug as well?
What about Jan Mayen, Bouvet Island, Peter I Island, Queen Maud Land (all Norway)? Ashmore and Cartier Islands (Australia)? Heard Island and McDonald Islands (Australia)? Clipperton Island (France)?
And for unrecognized/partially recognized sovereign states, why not include Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republic (both in Ukraine) as well?
And why won't you include the regions of Antarctica as well?
And some of the country names here need to be updated, such as Swaziland to Eswatini.
the quiz is supposed to only include territories with a population, which explains why some of your suggestions are not included, yet it does include some unpopulated places too. It is this inconsistency that makes this a frustrating and not very good quiz. With tidying up it could be brilliant, almost definitive, but the poster shows no interest in improving it
Why are Azores, Canary Islands, Ceuta, Melilla and Madeira listed separately while Socotra isn't? The more one looks at this quiz the more silly contradictions and inconsistencies one finds
1. add a map so it's easier to keep track what you've done, and
2. as others have said, allow some shorthand names (such as "DRC" for Democratic Republic of the Congo, or "St Kitts" for Saint Kitts and Nevis.
Other than that, great quiz!
