This is a tour de force but dare I say it the UK had no devolved governments before 1997, so the first-level subdivisions in 1939 were the counties, just like in Ireland. The Scottish counties are a bit of a nightmare though, I wouldn't blame you for glossing over them, but the English, Welsh and Nornirish ones are straightforward enough if you've got the stomach for them!
"Slaskie" and "Pomorskie" for some reason don't count as the Polish regions, but the German ones ... ??
I believe the English name "Silesia" and "Pomerania" should count for regions on both sides of the border, while the regions' respective names in German and Polish should count for each region by the border separately.
"Franconia" and "Bavaria" should count for all parts of said regions, as does Westphalia.
this was a fun quiz! im currently in the process of learning all the modern first level subdivisions of europe, so it was interesting to see what's changed and what's the same at a subnational level
Yeah, both were some way subject to Italian or German control respectively. The older version of this quiz used to have Albania as a "protectorate" subdivision of Italy.
Those were done using rows. Technically there are only four blocks here, just with two of them invisible to force the two that are fully visible into the center.
Clearly people liked the quiz, it's a good quiz. I still think quizzes which can't be possibly finished with a reasonable effort should be up for points.

At least I doubled my knowledge of French regions (2 to 4) and know about all of Poland. A lot of hours playing HOI4 also count a lot...
