I'm not sure if pine nuts can be considered distinctly a New World crop or Old World crop. Wikipedia says the pinyon pine is native to the Americas and their nuts were staples for indigenous Americans, while other sources say pine nuts had origins in the Middle East.

Love this. Always fascinates me how many staple old world crops came from the Americas relatively recently. No tomato?
