It’s called the capital of Latin America by Latinos. We are known as a safe haven for Latinos who escaped from bad situations in their own country. There is also NYC, but Miami is closer. We have a bunch (and I mean A BUNCH) of Cubans, but we also have Brazilians, Spaniards, Mexicans, Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, Colombians, Venezuelans, Hondurans, Salvadorians, Haitians (thanks to France they are technically Latino), and Argentinians. For example, I’m part Brazilian, Cuban, and Spanish. We don’t care about ethnicities. In fact, some of us don’t care if you were an illegal immigrants.
Google "capital of Latin America" and Miami is overwhelmingly the result with articles not just from the US but from the BBC and others with the nickname reaching back more than 30 years. At this point, it's not just some "appropriation," and even it is, it's been a pretty damn successful one.
Successful or not, it doesn't make sense to me. Even the first article in Google search begins "With the largest Latin American population outside of Latin America..."
And I'd like to mention a movie set in Miami that was better than Bad Boys but right now I can only think of 2 Fast 2 Furious and that might actually be worse.
Edit: well hey, atleast I beat 1,1% of the people haha
As a show it surpasses Miami Vice by some distance.
