It is very well known that Columbus never touched any part of what is the United States. He may have visited Puerto Rico, but that is not a state.

Puerto Rico is part of the US. Though it may not be a state that would mean that Washington D.C., Guam and American Samoa would also not be considered as part of the US. And yes he visited Puerto Rico
