I wondered that too, I checked and Guam's record low is about a degree higher than Jakarta's, and there's some other Pacific islands that are higher, but Jakarta is pretty close! Even Manaus, Brazil, deep in the Amazon, has a record low of 12°C (54°F) ! (If you really want to be nitpicky, the record probably goes to some volcano somewhere, but I know what the Quizmaster does to nitpickers.)
Forgive me for being doubtful, but how has São Paulo had freezing temperatures while Rio’s never recorded a temperature below 10 degrees? They’re on the same latitude, and I can’t imagine the couple hundred kilometres between them impacts the climate that much
São Paulo is surrounded by mountains and temperature along the year is not high... Winter can be cold there compaired to cities at the same latitude... Rio is a coastal city having a very hot Summer and fresh Winters...
More northern doesn’t mean colder, it depends on many factors, such a surrounding area and other stuff. Reykjavik is hotter than novosibirsk, Ulaanbaatar is colder than Moscow.
I wonder if Jakarta has the HIGHEST record low of anywhere on Earth?
