I guess relief pitchers aren't as valuable as they seem to be.

Mariano Rivera is tied for 25th all-time, 5th among pitchers. Since WAR is a counting stat it's harder for them to accumulate WAR because of the low number of innings they play. If you go by WAR/IP, relievers like Rivera are extremely valuable.

Rivera had 0.030 WAR per inning, while Pettitte had 0.021, for example.
