Methodology: We took the three least guessed answers from each quiz in the Name a City series and put them here. For the ones where there is a tie, all tied questions are included. We also excluded Name a City - Countries because of overlapping answers.

Surely Edmonton should be accepted for Alberta? Calgary is the capital and also the largest city; hence Edmonton is neither the capital, or the largest city.

Wow. I don't know that Kazakhstan causes people such problems. Karaganda, Shymkent, Atyrau, Ust'-Kamnegorsk, Uralsk, Pavlodar, Petropavlovsk... These cities, it turns out, are not so well known in the rest of the world.

Yep, that's true, and I doubt that anyone would have heard of Ismailia, Mansoura, Tanta, El Mahalla, or Bani Swef as well (all are Egyptian cities, and they're not minor). I suppose we could say that each person or group of people are well versed in their immediate environment, and then their knowledge declines as we increase the radius of an imaginary circle around them. From your comment, for example, I would assume that you are russian or central asian.
