Afghanistan and sub-Saharan Africa. Nothing surprising here. Except maybe Equatorial Guinea making the list. Most people don't know this but they have the highest per capita GDP of all countries in Africa, on par with places like Israel, Spain, Italy and South Korea. What the heck is going on there? Must be some obscene levels of corruption.

In EG only the few super rich has all the wealth, the rest is very poor. Also their level of income is not on par with those you mentioned. GDP per capita PPP in 2019:

EG: ~$21k

Israel: ~39k

Spain: ~40k

Italy: ~40k

South Korea: ~43k.

So about half
