Things to try out next: flammkuchen / tarte flambée from Alsace. The version with crème fraîche tends to be better.

Sep 17, 2021
The question asks about toppings popular in the US. The type of salami people like in the US is called pepperoni. Therefore, the best answer is obviously pepperoni, but you're assuming Italian people wouldn't be able to follow this straightforward logic for some reason.

A comment from an Italian, born and raised in Italy (which doesn't mean that what I say it's necessarly the Truth...): pizza without tomato sauce it's a real thing here. Pizzerias in Italy have two separate sections in their menus for red pizzas and white pizzas. You are free to order a pizza from the red section but without tomato sauce, and viceversa, typical example the four cheeses pizza which is usually a white pizza - no one gets offended!

But, "Pizza bianca" in Rome means or may mean something else which is similar but not identical to the focaccia in other regions/areas in Italy. Typical in Rome is pizza bianca with mortadella.

You can get pizza with mortadella and with quite everything you may think of, except for pineapple - that is very offensive.

I didn't get offended about the pepperoni question, as replied to that comment, it clearly says in the US.

Talking about offending Italy about pizza toppings: in many countries they use ketchup instead of tomato sauce

Not saying Chicago is wrong but Detroit is also known for a type of deep dish pizza as well. And just to jab the guys on the southern end of the great lake, Detroit's version is so much better. Let's see, I can either have a soft, thick, tasteless mass of dough or a crispy tasty thick crust. Not much of a choice if you ask me.

Pepperoni more popular than cheese? I don't think so. You need to disambiguate the question to make it clear "popular" means something like a particular survey result or that it's "non-cheese" toppings.

"BTC" should be accepted for "Bitcoin".

"aπz²", "pi*z²a", "zzap" and the like should be accepted for the volume, unless you make the visual pun part of the clue.

I think there are probably many kinds of pizza other than "white pizza" which don't have tomato sauce, I believe there's an example given in the quiz, even. So this question should probably be more specific.

Let me tell you something. Deep dish pizza is not a pizza. It's a f***ing casserole. It's a tomato soup in a bread bowl. Listen to me. I want to know when I pass out on my pizza, that I'm not gonna drown
