So people apparently notice if Algeria or Kazakhstan is not on the map, but don't notice when India is missing? I find that a bit weird.

India is just outside these on 86%. The stats for random quizzes are quite new, so in a few weeks that situation may have changed as more people get more random selections and I wouldn't be surprised if India climbs up.

That said, I think it's a general rule that countries on the edges of continents can be easier for some people to miss than those in the middle.

That makes sense I suppose. It's still a bit surprising, but perhaps I'm just projecting because I personally would find a missing India to be very noticeable. Thanks for the explanation!

After taking that quiz 65 times, this was quite easy as my answer stats line up pretty much the same.
