Early Spanish explorers referred to the area as 'árida zona', meaning "arid zone"

From what I’ve read, that’s not true. Per wiki:

The state's name appears to originate from an earlier Spanish name, Arizonac, derived from the O'odham name alĭ ṣonak, meaning 'small spring'.

Got a perfect score, first try. I guess all you need to do is not guess the ones we know were from European names, like Georgia being named after King George II of Great Britain, Louisiana being named after Louis XIV of France (the "Sun King"), Florida being Spanish for "flowery", Nevada being Spanish for "snowy", etc. Love the quiz, and super proud of myself for this one!
