An interesting quiz. While Turkey's position within Europe is so-and-so, I think it's only fair to include it. But a few unoccupied and decidedly European countries are missing from this list. The principalities of Andorra and Liechtenstein remained neutral and unoccupied throughout the war. Vatican City also professed neutrality and was unoccupied, even when rest of the city of Rome was under occupation. (Monaco professed neutrality but was occupied first by Italy and then by Germany, and San Marino, while neutral, didn't escape the conflict and was briefly under Allied occupation.)

I don't, the vast majority of Turkey is in the Middle East and that very tiny part that's in Europe was stolen from the Byzantines. The only reason they were allowed into NATO was because of their proximity to Russia during the Cuban middle crisis and other parts of the Cold War . In fact if you ask a European if they consider Turkey to be part of European culture very often they will tell you no.

A small (not tiny) part of Turkey is in Europe so it should be included in this quiz. The Byzantines and NATO have nothing to do with this.

Thanks for comment TAT. I originally decided not to include these minor countries, but I added those (three) now.

Uk INVADED BY GERMANY?? hardly a fair statement old bean! they occupied jersey , an island off the coast but were quickly sent packing, lederhosen in hand! not exactly representative of the uk being invaded. Good man, change this nonsense, else you'll be hearing from mr churchill and take a kick in your gentleman's area for good measure!

I dont speak English too well, but in my language invade means also that country attacks to other country trying to occupy it. This is what Germany made to UK and USSR and USSR made to Finland. This quiz gives a big credit for UK, USSR and Finland that were only countries in Europe (from countries at war) that were not occupied in WWII. But I'm always ready to take a little bit kickboxing with good old Winston.

Going to be a nerd here, but Germany occupied the Channal Island between 1940 and 1945, so they actually invaded and succefully occupied a part of the UK

Lol, Switzerland was indeed "neutral". And while they were o so neutral, they were enriching themselves by playing banker for the nazis. There are certain chemicals found in the gold, which are corresponding with chemicals found in golden teeth of Jews. When the nazis were defeated, there was no one left to claim their money and Switzerland still has it. Well played, i'd say..

Yeah, And I have seen videos where there is train full of jews going to consentration camp. In the video there is painted three crowns in wall of every carriage...the symbol of neutral Sweden. They had made the trains for Germans. its hard to be absolutely neutral in those situations, but still they were officially neutral. Actually example Finland was also neutral until USSR attacked here. After that it was quite impossible to be anywhere else but the same side with Germany.

Malta was attacked, but never occupied. Large portions of the Soviet Union were occupied, even if the entire country was not. Also, Iceland is generally considered a part of Europe.

Iceland was occupied by the UK and then the USA. Even though they were occupying to protect the island, it still counts as an occupation.
