I think an island of Mauritius is closer to the Seychelles than the main island is to Reunion

You omitted Sint Maarten (borders Saint Martin) which means that that you also have to include the Netherlands as a border country. As stated previously, French Guiana and Saint Martin are represented by Senators in the French Parliament, and vote in the French elections, making them both integral parts of France.

Doesn't change the fact that Saint Martin is still a collectivity, and not a region / department of France

This quiz needs a thorough verification. If you add Brazil, then you should also add Suriname.

Aren't there two little French islands just of the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador? I'd have thought that the distance would be less than ten miles...

That's Saint-Pierre et Miquelon, but that's a collectivity, not a department like Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyane, Réunion and Mayotte
