Seems too hard as in you don't really have any reference points even after you start guessing a couple. How about sorting them either alphabetically or by area (or something else) so that after the first guesses you have some clues?

Interesting quiz. Really makes you think. I got most of the large countries but only a couple of the small ones. 13/20.
