Great quiz. Nominated. Why do so few people know who discovered Australia and Antarctica whilst nearly everyone knows who discovered America?

Thanks! It's a common misconception that Cook discovered Australia and most primary educational facilities just run with it. I honestly don't know how that happened. As for the rest i can't say. American-centralism?
