It's weird that USSR and Russia are counted seperately, while Germany and GDR are not

Furthermore UK should be accepted for Great Britain

UK works now. We just require countries on present-day borders, so Germany / East Germany / West Germany all work for Germany. However, where an old country (eg USSR) is an amalgam of several current countries, the old country is also required (and marked in red).
