Needs an update, but otherwise this would be a great featured quiz. The regular Presidents quiz doesn't require them to be guessed in order.

I only got Benjamin Harrison because I knew there were two Harrisons. The second was somewhere before Roosevelt I

Didn't read close enough and blew all my whammies in less than a second typing "Washington".

Yeah, I don’t get the point of these only-type-the-first-letter quizzes. Just let me say the answer.

I couldn't agree more. If it's gonna be just the first letter, then the title should probably have "by First Letter" somewhere in there.

Well, the point is so you don't waste a whammie by spelling a word wrong or fat-fingering a wrong letter. The computer couldn't distinguish between a misspelled correct guess and an incorrect guess. It might work to type the whole word if there was an "Enter" button on these types of quizzes that you had to click when you were satisfied you had typed the correct answer, but then again there would be no room for misspelling.

It can distinguish between typos and incorrect guesses, though. Whammies are set manually, and I can't think of any typos that would happen to be another president's name.

Try creating the quiz you're talking about and you'll see why it's done this way.

I realize the time is pretty short because you only have to type the first letter, but more time would probably be nice to have the chance to stop and think about placements. Otherwise it turns into a bit of a race, which I don't think is the point

I got the first 8 and the last 16 with no problems (once I read the instructions to type the first letter only!). Got a little spotty in the middle, but I got 4/5 points! ;)

I'm would wager the low average score is due to people taking the quiz and just typing "Washington" in and having the quiz end with only 2 correct answers.

For any confusion Martin Van Buren is done with a V. This was just for future me before comments start criticizing me for this.

As of the moment of typing, 39% of test takers got exactly 2 correct answers. This is clearly from people typing "Washington" and then losing instantly.

Perhaps the title should indicate that it's by first letter?

Thanks JetPunk for teaching this to a limey! I think you need to know these quite well even to get the first letter in the allotted time

Agreed. This quiz is very time stressed, I feel like there should be more time added, especially considering that it's sudden death. Either you know 'em or you don't.

How do I make Whammies work on a quiz like this? I’ve done a first letter of European countries quiz, but I can only set ten whammies, while it seems like I need 26 to cover each letter of the alphabet?
