The 108 Stars of Destiny of Suikoden V by Picture

In early 2006, Konami released the fifth entry of the mainline Suikoden series. It would be the final entry for the PS2, the (as of this writing) last numbered entry in the series, and last adventure in the established lore of Suikoden. Where the previous two PS2 entries veered wildly from the original Suikoden formula (and each other), Suiko V brought the series back to many of the core aspects that had endeared fans to the series in the first place. The primary battle system and overworld navigation returned to the same format used in the first two games, and while it was still a prequel to the first game, it was set only six years before such, instead of over 150, like Suikoden IV. This closer timeframe allowed several characters from the first two games to appear and allowed for cameos, mentions, and nods to characters and events that would unfold in those games. It's attained a number of fans, and is usually beaten by only the first two games (and occasionally the third) in fan polls and ratings.
