While the 80's saw the end of the territorial era, one of the few companies to survive was Jim Crockett Promotions. Media mogul Ted Turner, himself a "Wrasslin" fan, would purchase JCP outright and name it to World Championship Wrestling and carry it into the 90's on his own TBS station.
