Unbelievable, and sickening, that any of these are allowed. The stats show that killing offenders didn't deter their original offending, and stopping repeat offences (the only other practical point to killing an offender) can be achieved equally well by life imprisonment. At least very few countries do this sort of thing - this quiz shows who.

Revenge killing a.k.a. "justice", deterrent, and the strawman that it's the only way to stop repeat offenses are all poor reasons to execute someone;

recognizing that a person has no value to society and that prolonging their life will only cause suffering to themselves and others, understanding that life is not sacred and that everyone dies sooner or later, accepting that lifelong imprisonment is actually a far worse punishment than humane execution once you take away the irrational fetishistic view of living that most people have, and realizing that keeping someone alive in prison costs a lot of money for no discernible gain ARE good reasons, though.

For a supposedly Christian country, the wholesale disregard for the sixth commandment is illuminating. Hypocrisy reigns.

Only when humanity finally grasps that ALL killing is wrong, and not just killing that you disagree with, will we be able to evolve into an advanced society.

America is very sick indeed…

Btw, life doesn’t need to be sacred for this to hold true

“No value to society” is one of the most dehumanising and sickening phrases I have ever read, anywhere, period. And I’ve read Mein Kampf. Nice one Kal for sharing your thoughts, perhaps you could explain who gets to decide which humans should be exterminated and what units you are using for measuring “value” in this context?

When you imprison a murderer for life, you are not only stating what is right and wrong, but crucially, you are demonstrating it as well. We, civilised society, is bigger than that. Hammurabi ruled over a Bronze Age civilisation, and that is where outdated views like yours belong. I can guarantee, if you hadn’t been born and raised in a country with such primitive laws you would almost certainly feel differently.

My jaw dropped when I typed in "hanging" just in case and it was accepted, it did again when I gave up and saw the last answer I was missing was gas chamber... so sickening
