Try to guess all countries in the world in order of their northernmost point on land. When you guess each country it will be illuminated on the empty map.
Dependent territories are not considered (eg Greenland)
Data from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_northernmost_point (as of 3.3.21)
Do you love typing so long and fast that your fingers ache? Have you nothing better to do for the next hour? Draw the map of the world by entering ALL country borders, including seas, oceans, gulfs, bays, lakes, and of course other countries.
Venezuela: Isla Aves (near Dominica) is owned by Venezuela
Mauritius: There are some far north islands owned by Mauritius (don't remember the name). They're not part of the Mauritius circle, so that might have been confusing
It's actually way harder than expected even for geography nerds. At first it's easy because answers are obvious and easy to work out but further to the centre you get the broader range. Took me over 2 minutes to work out Mexico because I got fixated on Bahamas being first after a while in North America lol.
I forgot that Colombia and Venezuela project further north than Panama so i kept trying those two after panama and was getting ticked that they weren't being accepted.
Super fun and interesting quiz. Don't understand how so many people finish it. The equator area has three continents and random islands to jump between!
Wow, I must have done "Countries of the World" a hundred times, but I still could barely manage the first quarter on this one. I'll definitely do this again until I solve it completely.
Outstanding quiz! Frustrating and addictive at the same time. Now I am interested in learning why some countries are ranked lower than others while their latitude shown in the first column is further North. See Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Mauritania, Colombia, Sri Lanka, etc. I was expecting a steady decrease in the latitudes.
I'm not sure if I should be embarrassed or proud, but after 54 tries, I finally got them all in 20 minutes. Barbados, Cambodia, and the Pacific islands always gave me problems.
I both really like this quiz and want to soak it in gasoline and toss it in a bonfire at the same time. It gets very frustrating when I forget the Philippines for ten minutes and can't figure out what I'm missing, but it is still fun, interesting, and informative.
Love the quiz (and your other ones), but several of these are out of order, which makes it considerably more difficult. I’m not arguing about what you’ve identified as the northernmost points like some others are, but accepting your latitudes as correct, at least 11 of them are out of order —
Kazakhstan (55°43’N) should be before Ireland (55°26’N), not after it.
Bosnia (45°16’N) should be after Uzbekistan and Japan (45°36’N and 45°31’N, respectively), not before them.
Colombia at 15°50’N shouldn’t be between Gambia (13°49’N) and St Vincent (13°22’N).
Sri Lanka (09°30’N) shouldn’t be between Liberia (08°33’N) and Guyana (08°24’N)
Similarly, Kosovo, Tunisia, Mauritania, Indonesia, Kiribati, Singapore, and Papua New Guinea are out of order based on the latitudes you’ve listed.
got 195 my 9th try (almost cried) and finally got 196 on my 13th try with 3:57 to go... awesome quiz! you should make an easternmost version with the revealing map!

If you want to do it "the right way", this is hands down one of the hardest quizzes on the website. However, there is an alternative way which makes it less difficult, if not easy (and it does not involve cheating in wany way). I won't disclose it here but here's a hint: look at the answer percentages. Something seems off about them... Great quiz both for knowledge practice and outside-the-box thinking!
This is great! I'm on my 17th try and can only get upto 137. Still gets confused with the Balkan area. I'll go in order upto Guatemala, and then I'll go to the last one New Zealand and type upwards until Mauritius. The I'll kind of guess the rest with the coordinates.
With the Chagos Archipelago being transferred to Mauritius, this quiz will need to be updated soon. Mauritius's northernmost point will be at 05°14′S, between Solomon Islands and Tuvalu.
This quiz is incredibly frustrating. Every few answers I come to a stop, look at the map, try several different countries and think "how in the world it's not any of those?". And then I give up, my best score 85.
Right before my time ended, I made the time unlimited and started a stopwatch. It took me an extra 10 mins...because I kept typing Marshall Islands instead of Solomon islands...

Will there be one for the southernmost southern points as well?
I could see doing quizzes for east to west and west to east from the Prime Meridian as well.
Thanks a lot for a great quiz!
Thanks again.

I would suggest a higher time due to this low average, so it could be more enjoyable - it is an awesome quiz idea
