You start with the largest African country, you then move to the largest country that doesn't border it. You then move to the largest country that doesn't border any of the two listed before it. Keep going all the way, finding the largest country that doesn't border any of the ones listed already! You are shown hints for the first three answers to help you get started

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll have to see what comes out though, it might be too similar to simply the list of smallest countries as borders between small countries are less common than borders between large countries
